Will Women Lead in Florida?

Florida is at yet another crossroads. We have an election cycle that is shaping up to be quite important for not only Florida but our county. We will elect a Governor a Senator and about 2 dozen US Representatives. Our votes will give us strong women or more old white men. There is no doubt that this race is important for us here. Just look at the Covid-19 response.

We literally have tens of thousands of students across our state that are being quarantined for possible exposure, astronomic rises in cases, daily deaths exceeding 150, and a governor who wants to blame the White House for what’s happening here in Florida. We have a void in our leadership and our citizens are dying!

For Governor my choice is Nikki Fried! She is the first Democrat to win a statewide seat since 2012. She is a NATIVE Floridian, born in Miami, was educated here, and practiced law here. She is exactly the kind of candidate we need to defeat DeathSantis and protect our great state. Keep your eyes on this race as there are players that are vying for this seat that could make it harder for Nikki to win.

Next is Rep. Val Demings! She is running to be our next Senator! She is taking on Marco Rubio. We all know what we stand to gain here! She has all the skills needed to be a senator, a foundation in law enforcement as a former police chief, and also native to Florida! She has worked diligently to help Floridians since day one. She is, as is Nikki, what we need. WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP!

Every eligible voter, especially those who are part of a marginalized group (Black, Brown, POC) should be keenly interested in voting. We make a difference in every election by showing up. We need to take responsibility and action by voting. Needless to say I would like every Democrat to have the support of every marginalized group but we all know that there are those who vote against their interests.

2016 was one that really hurt our country. We had a choice between a well qualified, prepared candidate (Hillary Clinton) and Trump. A racist bigot. Yet he was able to cheat his way into the White House. We don’t have time for purity politics. This lead to 3 supreme court justices, 250 plus federal judges, and the literal destruction of our government.

2021 and beyond we must do everything in our power to ensure we get out and vote. We make a difference. Each and every single one of our votes helps us advance or regress. The choice is yours. Democrats are for advancement and progress. Republicans have shown you that they are selfish, self-righteous, anti-science, and anti-American.
